In the ProCurand Bölschestraße senior citizens' residence a very special birthday was celebrated: Resident Richard Raue, affectionately known to many as „Richi“, turned 100 years old. He spent an emotional and joyful day of honour together with his family, the senior citizens and staff.
Richi has been living at the residence for several years and has become a valued conversationalist for many people in the house. He is interested in music, literature, and engaging with other people. His open and warm nature, in particular, makes him an important part of everyday life for many residents and staff.
For the celebration, the kitchen prepared a large birthday cake and a toast was made to the special anniversary during a communal champagne reception. Many took the opportunity to extend personal congratulations and reminisce together. Maik Penn, a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, also personally congratulated Richard Raue on his special day.
The stories from his life are particularly moving. Richi was a businessman and lovingly cared for his wife for many years, looking after and accompanying her himself until the very end. His family continues to visit him regularly and is an important part of his life.
„It wasn’t just an age that was celebrated, but a life full of experiences, memories and heartfelt warmth,“ reports Denise Grytzka from social services.
A birthday that showed everyone involved how valuable humanity, closeness, and shared memories are.
