In the ProCurand Senftenberg retirement home Recently, a special employment initiative was on the agenda: life companion Corina Gill designed a very creative "sensory box" to stimulate the residents' sense of touch and playfully promote their haptic perception. She had filled the box with a wide variety of materials – soft or rough, smooth or unusually textured.
The residents were a little reserved at first, but curious enough to get involved in this unusual activity. After a short time, the ice was broken and everyone bravely set off on a journey of discovery. A lively exchange quickly developed: "What is this now?" they advised. The materials were described, and impressions and assessments were compared. There were quite a few surprises when the identities were revealed. The mood was light-hearted, and there was a lot of laughter. "Since it was well received, this will definitely be repeated," reports Corinna Gill.
