What happens if there really is a fire? That is precisely what was recently tested in Care Home St. UlrichI tested in Lam during an unannounced fire drill. Together with two local fire brigades, the evacuation of a fire compartment was practised. In the process, building services technician Peter Liebl took on the role of the „fire victim“ and was safely brought outside via the fire escape using an evacuation blanket. The turntable ladder of the Lam fire service was also deployed. Several training dummies were rescued from the first floor. A total of almost 40 firefighters took part in the exercise. The conclusion: The procedures worked well and colleagues knew what to do in an emergency. Exercises like this that closely mirror reality are particularly important for embedding techniques and procedures and for being prepared for an emergency. During the joint debriefing, the exercise and individual procedures were discussed in detail once again. Afterwards, all participants were able to wind down the operation together over drinks and a light snack.
