Boys' Day in Bölschestraße

01.05.2024

On 25 April, the team at the ProCurand senior citizens' residence Bölschestraße ten young men attended this year's Boys‘ Day. The motto of the day was: „Discover the diversity of life“. The students immersed themselves in the world of nursing and care - an instructive and touching experience! At the beginning, facility manager Matthias Küßner described the opportunities for training in the traditional female profession of nursing and explained what qualifications are required and that it is also a rewarding career for men. Denise Grytzka from Social Services then gave the young people a tour of the residence. She explained the various care aids and the rooms. „It was amazing to see how engaged and interested the young men were,“ she says. The students spoke to the team and many colleagues were happy to talk about their daily tasks and experiences. A highlight of the day was the time the ten spent with the residents. They looked after the senior citizens with empathy and respect. After letting off steam in the garden and a refreshing break, the students received their well-deserved recognition in the form of certificates. Andrea Liebner, Head of Care Services, and Denise Grytzka led a feedback session to help the boys reflect on and appreciate their experiences. The conclusion of this successful day was that the pupils not only learnt about a profession on this Boys‘ Day, but also broadened their horizons. The residents and the team were also very touched by this meeting of the generations. „May this day help many young men find their way into the care sector and shape a future based on compassion and respect,“ says Denise Grytzka.
