Bölschestraße excursion to Berlin Zoo

17.06.2024

Some residents with dementia at ProCurand  Bölschestraße senior citizens' residence recently experienced an unforgettable day at Berlin Zoo, organised and accompanied by the Malteser Service, for which many thanks! The tour was customised for the special guests. Specially trained Malteser Service staff guided the Friedrichshageners through the zoo with great empathy. They patiently explained the different animal species and made sure that everyone had the opportunity to marvel at the animals up close.the group consisted of residents, their relatives, carers, support staff and a trainee. The anticipation was great and the atmosphere was warm and loving right from the start, with everyone receiving lots of support and attention. Everyone was thrilled by the animals and nature. Everyone was particularly impressed by the elephants with their imposing demeanour and the playful monkeys, who tirelessly jumped from branch to branch. "This day at Berlin Zoo will stay with everyone for a long time to come. It showed us how important such excursions are for the quality of life of our residents with dementia and how much joy and happiness they bring to their lives," reports Denise Grytzka from Social Services. "A big thank you to the Malteser Service and all the helpers who made this special day possible. Their commitment created an unforgettable experience." Such a wonderful idea, dear colleagues, thank you!
