Walk to the Müggelsee

27.08.2024

So close and yet so far away for the residents of ProCurand Bölschestraße senior citizens' residence is the beautiful Müggelsee lake. "The Müggelsee is only 900 metres away from the facility, but the bumpy footpaths are a challenge. For our wheelchair users, the lake can only be reached with help. Thanks to the active support of our interns from the Merian School and the Ruth Cohn School, this was now possible," explains Franziska Gabriel, Head of Social Care. A large group got together: Ten residents, five interns, including an 11th-grader on a work placement for her social baccalaureate and three student interns who were only at the facility for a week, and four carers. It took them just under half an hour each way. Once they arrived at Müggelsee, everyone enjoyed the view of the lake and the lapping of the waves. Then it was time for refreshments. Next to the Spree tunnel is a small promenade with a few snack stands, but they were still closed in the morning. That's why the social care team had put together some tasty treats and brought them along. There were peppers, grapes, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, biscuits, boulettes, milk rolls, water and orange juice. a summary of the successful walk: „You should sit by the lake much more often!" Thanks for the great idea to the Bölschestraße team and, of course, to the dedicated student interns!
