Outdoor bowling in Sulzbach-Rosenberg

  During wonderful late summer weather, the residents of ProCurand Senior Citizens' Centre Am Herzogschloss in Sulzbach-Rosenberg finally bowling in the garden again after a long time. It normally takes place in the therapy room in the basement. A total of 38 residents took part, 26 of whom bowled actively while the others cheered them on. All participants had the chance to show off their „skills“ six times. The points from the six rounds were totalled by the social care team. Taking part is everything, only winning is a little bit nicer. However, there is nothing to be won - except fame and honour! The first three places for women and men always receive thunderous applause. „For the team, outdoor skittles is a sweaty affair, as we have to put the skittles back in place after every throw. Unfortunately, we don't have an automatic machine to set them up,“ says Sonia Haubelt, Head of the Social Care Team, with a laugh. „We always find it fascinating how accurate some residents still are, many of them used to bowl a lot. Almost every pub in the area has a bowling alley.“
