The ProCurand team Senior citizens' residence Am Hufeisensee in Halle-Büschdorf had a surprise meeting with Dr Karamba Diaby, member of the German Bundestag, before Christmas. The committed SPD politician has often visited the centre. This time he took the time to talk about his career and how he came to Germany from Senegal to study many years ago. He gave a vivid account of how he came to politics after studying chemistry - and quickly broke the ice.
The team talked about the challenges and opportunities of working with international trainees. They also talked about the trainees' countries of origin, the valuable experience they have already gained in Germany and at ProCurand, and the bureaucratic hurdles that need to be overcome.
„It was really impressive to hear Dr Diaby talk about his own experiences and motivate us to continue fighting for a better future. He will continue to support us in the future, even though he is now retiring from active politics,“ reports Ute Knauth, head of the organisation.
