During the trial meal for the summer season, the kitchen team at ProCurand Senior citizens' residence Am Straussee the residents and tenants: What would they like for dinner? The answer was unanimous: we would like potato pancakes with sugar and/or apple sauce! No sooner said than done. Our carers called for people to peel potatoes together and numerous residents and tenants turned up to join in. Memories of old times were exchanged. „The peeling turned into a little competition based on the motto: who can peel the fastest and who can peel the thinnest potato skin,“ says Janin Tiedemann, head of the facility, with a laugh. But everyone won, because they all had fun doing it!
The reward was freshly baked, delicious potato pancakes, which were distributed to all residents in the care centre by the social care team. Thanks to Sebastian Rohrmann for baking so diligently and to the others for handing them out! Some of the residents ordered seconds, it was so delicious. We baked until we ran out of dough. There is hardly anything better than potato pancakes fresh from the pan! Because it went down so well, the Strausbergers will be doing it again soon.
