In the ProCurand cafeteria Senior Citizens' Centre Am Herzogschloss A wonderful aroma drifted through the room: the care team prepared fresh elderflower cakes in the Upper Palatinate tradition together with the senior citizens. The pastries are made from elderflower umbels, which the team dipped in batter and baked until golden brown. Around 40 residents gathered to learn more about the healing powers and history of elderflower. They listened intently to the exciting stories told by carers Anita Stubenvoll and Ingrid Denninger.
Christa Schwendner diligently set to work and conjured up many elderflower fritters for everyone – with a great deal of love and patience. "The tasty fritters were extremely well-received," reports social services manager Sonia Haubelt.
