45 eighth-grade students from the Wilhelm Bölsche Secondary School recently visited ProCurand as part of their career exploration. Bölschestraße senior citizens' residence. The aim was to give the young people a real insight into the fields of activity and working conditions in the social sector on this day. In small groups, the young people met colleagues and residents – with remarkable openness and respect! Many consciously sought conversation and listened with genuine interest, asked thoughtful questions and showed empathy. Not to be taken for granted! For the residents, the visit was an enrichment. „When young people listen to old people, not only understanding is created, but also the future,“ says Denise Grytzka from the social services. „For us as an institution, this visit was a win on many levels. It showed us how important it is to create spaces where real experiential learning can happen, beyond all theory. Where young people can feel what it means to work with people and what this work can give back to them.“
As a farewell, the students received a certificate. As recognition and an invitation to remember this day. „Perhaps we've sparked something. Perhaps it will lead to an internship, voluntary work, or even a calling. Perhaps it will simply remain the feeling of how valuable human connection is,“ says Denise Grytzka.
