Fishing festival in Strausberg

27.08.2025

The annual fishing festival is a beloved tradition in ProCurand Senior citizens' residence Am StrausseeThe Spree sailors created a maritime atmosphere with well-known melodies like „A Spree Trip is Fun“ or „Where the Spree Waves Beat Against the Shore“ – sometimes with new lyrics too.
The residents and tenants sang along, swayed, or danced. „So that we are safe in case the moody weather god decides to surprise us with rain, we moved the celebration straight into the restaurant,“ explained facility manager Janin Tiedemann. The atmosphere was still fantastic. The team around head chef Michael Sigmund spoiled the revellers with fish rolls, fried fish, or grilled trout. The trout were freshly caught! The son of an employee had delivered them at lunchtime. It doesn't get any fresher!

One highlight, once again, was the Neptune baptism for all newcomers (residents from the care home and tenants from serviced apartments). After drinking a hearty swig of Klabauterwasser (sea dog's water), they were baptised with such amusing names as „whirly crab,“ „glowing jellyfish,“ or „spritely lobster“ - by Poseidon and Neptune in person! Of course, the Fisher King of 2025 was also determined. Klaus Reichard took the title after an exciting tie-breaker. We congratulate His Majesty on his victory.

With the last drops of peach punch and the leftover fish bones, Poseidon and Neptune prepared next year's Klabautermann brew. Everyone is already looking forward to the time when Strausberg once again echoes with: "Petri Heil!"
