Achim Häfner, better known as the „falconer of hearts“, recently visited ProCurand Senior citizens' residence Am Straussee. In the restaurant and in the living areas, he presented his therapy birds, including several owls and an impressive eagle owl. With a great deal of passion and humour, he talked about the importance of species conservation, his work with the birds of prey and the respectful interaction between humans and animals.
The best part, however, was the direct contact: The owls could be viewed and stroked at close quarters. Many residents were visibly moved. The social care team received a perfect introduction to „falconry“, so even residents who are unable to leave their room were able to stroke these impressive owls right by their beds and feel their soft feathers.
„Our residents really enjoyed experiencing these beautiful, fascinating birds up close. It was very touching to witness,“ says Karla Plieth, Head of Social Care. A big thank you to the falconer of hearts!
