Maritime fishing festival at the Am Straussee senior residence

In glorious summer weather, around 120 residents and guests celebrated the traditional fishermen's festival of the Senior citizens' residence Am Straussee in Strausberg. Following the welcome by the facility manager Janin Tiedemann, the afternoon began at summer-set tables in the park overlooking the Straussee.

Captain Hartmut and his ship's boy created a fitting maritime atmosphere with live music. Well-known sea shanties invited people to sing along and sway, and together with the special location by the Straussee, created a holiday mood.

A highlight of the fishermen's festival was the traditional Neptune baptism of the new residents. After a humorous test by the sea god Neptune, they received their new names: „Swift Sprat“, „Brisk Octopus“ and „Fun Sea Urchin“.

The culinary offer also picked up on the maritime theme. Alongside homemade plum crumble cake and cold drinks, there were pickled herring and smoked salmon rolls, fresh trout and prawn skewers. Guests could also prove their skill at duck fishing.

„At this festival, a little bit of holiday spirit comes to Lake Straussee every year,“ Janin Tiedemann summarises the afternoon.

The traditional fisherman's festival offered residents and guests a varied afternoon with music, culinary delights, and a maritime flair.
