The summer party at ProCurand Havelpalais retirement home This year's theme was „1950s-1960s“, which was great fun for everyone. The organisation team met several times beforehand to plan the set-up and dismantling, the schedule, decorations and food and drink offers. The day began with a stormy start and strong winds. Despite this, the in-house technicians began setting up in the morning in the car park, which was closed off for the event. They were supported by the in-house technician from Hegelallee and a few other helpers. The social care team decorated everything in the style of the 1950s. They hung up self-printed pictures of well-known films and musicians from the era, old records, flowers, homemade lollipops and bunting chains. A living room corner with period furniture, carpet and decorations from the 1950s was set up in the entrance area of the centre. The decorations were borrowed from the Babelsberg studios' prop collection. A nostalgic drinks stand, a barbecue station and a stand with a popcorn machine for anyone with a sweet tooth were also set up.
When the summer party began, facility manager Enrico Hennig was suddenly missing. Head of nursing Melanie Micka-Herzmann asked all the guests to shout for him. A man on roller skates with a rockabilly-style wig turned up. The residents and tenants could hardly believe that this was the boss... But it was! Enrico Hennig pushed his grandchild in front of him in a bobby car and warmly greeted those present. Then Dirk Jüttner, the rock'n'roller from Berlin, started his 1950s music programme and created a great atmosphere.
The absolute highlight, however, was the performance of the social care team. „As a little interlude, we girls and our only man in the team, Christian, danced - dressed up, of course,“ says Marika Große, Team Leader Social Care. We started off with aprons and feather dusters to the song „Das bisschen Haushalt“. They then skilfully performed a sugar-sweet choreography to the hit song „Lollipop“. Each of the female colleagues - and the male colleague, of course - had a self-made oversized lollipop in their hand. They asked the senior citizens to dance to „Schuld war nur der Bossa-Nova“ and some of them were happy to join in the fun.
Dirk Jüttner then took over the stage show again and played until dinner, which chef Ralf Dumack and his team conjured up. There were small hamburgers, a side salad and cheese snails, plus draught soda, beer and water - delicious! It was an all-round successful summer party. The senior citizens raved about the motto from the „good old days“ for a long time afterwards!
