When Christoph Berger's bookshop „Leselieber“ closed, many people from the ProCurand Bölschestraße senior citizens' residence a piece of the neighbourhood's cultural home was lost. But the owner, Christoh Berger, quickly found a way for the books to still reach the residents and tenants. He now regularly brings literature by Tolstoy or Ringelnatz, modern or classic, to our centre and reads aloud. This makes the loss of the bookshop a little easier to bear.
The „book case“ came to the centre for the first time in mid-August. A small but select group listened, laughed, thought and experienced how literature builds bridges. „It was a special afternoon, full of closeness and inspiration,“ says Stefanie Böhnke, centre manager. „Books create community and allow people to talk to each other who might otherwise never have spoken to each other.“
The „Bücherkoffer“ will open again on 13 October and 8 December 2025, both from 4 p.m. in the Vier Jahreszeiten restaurant. All book lovers are cordially invited to bring their own favourite books to read aloud or talk about them.
