Therapy dogs in the Eberswalde day care centre

15.08.2026

School and therapy dogs and the nursery children recently visited the Procurand Eberswalde Day Care. The animal heartbreakers brought radiant smiles to the faces of the day guests. The youngest dog was just 13 weeks old, still a real baby. The other four-legged friends showed numerous tricks: sit, stay, wave, bark and growl on command. A small female dachshund proved how much discipline and talent can lie even in a small dog.

A "fancy dress party" created a lively atmosphere. All the dogs chose an accessory and proudly presented their outfits, dressed up with hats or flower garlands. After that, things got more serious again. The handlers demonstrated the help the dogs provide when shopping, carrying the basket for their mistress or positioning themselves so that their master can place a light shopping basket on their back – invaluable help for people with physical disabilities!

Of course, at the end, the most important thing couldn't be missing: plenty of petting and cuddling sessions, says Jamie Stankovic, deputy director of nursing, with a laugh. A big thank you to the dog handlers and their four-legged friends for this educational and amusing morning!
